I’d like to tell you about one medieval (and not too expensive to rent, by the way) wedding castle near Florence, Italy, where I organised and decorated a wedding a while back – castello di Vincigliata.
First of all, the castle’s location is very convenient, just 15-20 minutes away from Florence, where the guests can choose accommodation according to their taste and budget (there is no accommodation in the castle).
There are several open-air locations (including those with amazing views) and one hall with giant windows, where reception can be held in case of bad weather. Apart from that, there are several rooms of free use. The castle itself is so picturesque and has so many picture-worthy corners, that the whole wedding photoshoot can be arranged right there.
I cannot fail to remind that Tuscany is a rather hot region. In August the temperature can go as high as +40ºC, so if you are planning a lot of outdoor action, do not forget to create shadow and provide sufficient refreshments – another great idea would be to order a van of real Italian gelato.
Another thing to keep in mind (which is relevant to all Italy and other southern countries in general) is that August is vacation time, and if you forget to arrange group transfer, you might encounter taxi problems at night after reception.
The castle manager are very nice. There are three exclusive catering options, but I don’t have anything to say about them, since I managed to arrange my favourite catering from another region.
To sum up, I can definitely recommend this castle as a perfect location for small and atmospheric weddings. Just take a look at this beauty!
