I decided to introduce a new topic – reviewing venues I have worked at. And I want to start with a gorgeous French chateau La Chevre d’Or (which, by the way, translates to The Golden Goat).

And i want to start with some words from chateau itself:

“A never ending marvel. Every time you arrive within these medieval walls it’s like the first time. Enter a dream like no other.”

And to be honest, i can’t agree more.

“Our story through time

La Chèvre d’Or is a unique “diva”, timeless, a jewel sparkling above the Mediterranean.

In 1953, Robert Wolf fell in love with Château de La Chèvre d’Or and turned it into a restaurant.

On the advice of Walt Disney, so they say, he acquired houses in the village and transformed them into hotel rooms. The hotel later became one of the six stops of the “Route du Bonheur”, the beginnings of the Relais & Châteaux association.

Through time the different owners have continued to increase the number of rooms scattered through the medieval village.

Today Château de La Chèvre d’Or has 40 rooms and suites.”

In my opinion, the location of the venue is very convenient for the clients – just 20 minutes away from Nice, where the guests can find accommodation and different activities. The chateau is located in an old and very famous Eze village and offers absolutely stunning views over the Mediterranean, Nice and Monaco. I remember seeing them for the first time – my breath was completely taken away.

The chateau is perfect for private weddings, since there are just a few small areas for a wedding celebration (I would recommend up to 80 guests, depending on the areas you prefer). The ceremony is usually held in a garden on the lower level (up to 80 guests) or on the terrace with a beautiful view (up to 50 guests), the wedding reception – at gourmet restaurant La Chevre d’Or (musical entertainment not permitted, up to 80 people) or at our restaurant Les Remparts (music and dancing permitted under certain conditions, up to 80 guests).

An extremely important detail both couples and professionals should keep in mind: due to the peculiar location all the unloading takes place in the small parking site, after which all the deliveries need to be carried around manually to various levels with an abundance of stairs up and down. This takes up a lot of time, since it’s just impossible to use a trolley in numerous places. Besides, parking is extremely complicated (both for the guests and the coordinators) – you can easily spend up to half an hour looking for a spot (especially for a bigger car or a truck).

The service and menu at the hotel are just incredible! After all, in 2016, chief Arnaud Faye joined the Château de la Chèvre d’Or to oversee the management of the hotel’s kitchens, and in particular that of “La Chèvre d’Or”, its 2 Michelin starred gourmet restaurant.

Working there is a great pleasure (not taking into account the number of stairs you’ll go up in a day). And with such views you don’t need to spend a lot on decorations to make the wedding memorable. Although, naturally, with them you can make magnificent decor.

And it is worth mentioning that the chateau’s location easily allows you to have your pre-wedding dinner in one of the local restaurants, rent a yacht, or take a walk in the beautiful surrounding area, enjoy the architecture and everything French Riviera can offer to you.
